Unbiased Review: Alan Fakeman’s “Rebound” Music Video

French lo-fi slacker-pop band Alan Fakeman might take inspiration from 90’s indie artists like Eels and Sebadoh, but the quirky, alt rock of songs like “Rebound” are purely, uniquely them. On initial listening, you might think you’ve discovered a long-lost Butthole Surfers track, with its baritone, spoke-sung vocals and lyrics about dark matter and spinning in cosmic realms (the lyrics are across-the-board existential and captivating).

But there’s a cheeky humor at play here also, which comes through in the surrealist video for the song which finds the band performing in a classic Rolls Royce while flying through space. They dodge asteroids and lightning storms, film cosmic ghosts and get their groove on. It’s gloriously weird and watchable, and works to elevate and cement the song in your consciousness.
