Tia Gostelow – Two Lovers Review

Indigenous Australian singer-songwriter, Tia Gostelow, has already been capturing a lot of attention for her music at only 21 years of age. Her debut album, Thick Skin, received the Queensland Music Award for Album Of The Year, Triple J Feature album – not to mention that her single, “Strangers” from that album has been certified Gold.

Her newest album release, Chrysalis, has a lot of fun 80’s influenced pop and electronic styles. This style is heavily showcased in her single, “Two Lovers.” To accompany this single she’s released an amiable music video that features a wide variety of couples in loving embraces.

“We wanted to show couples from all walks of life in different scenes, everyone’s story is so different and we wanted to highlight that. It felt really nice to showcase other stories within a music video instead of it being mostly about me, this song was meant to resonate with people going through things like long distance and being away from loved ones so it only felt right to showcase the best parts of being with the person you love.”

She captures that love well, as I found myself smiling and feeling comforted by the visuals accompanying her lively pop jams. It honestly felt nice to watch a series of loving embraces after a year lacking in physical touch due to the worldwide pandemic.
