Sometimes you got to give the people what they want. In the case of UK queer-punk duo pink suits, what the people wanted was for them to record their fan-favorite soundcheck song “C.O.F.F.E.E.”, even though the band had never intended to record it or release it. I’m personally thankful they changed their mind.
The track is like a double-shot of espresso to your ears, spewing out frantic punk energy from every tongue-twisting note. And while the song touches on some poignant themes for the duo, it doesn’t hide the humor in the Riot Grrrl ferocity of the song. And the band furthers the tongue-in-cheekiness of the song with a perfect, lo-fi video that matches he track’s energy.
From the quick clips of various coffee styles, to the faux-running tracking shots and the kinetic performance moments, the video is silly and weird and feels like a perfect throwback to the homemade videos classic punk groups would make for their music. Watch the video above, and stream it here!
