On their latest single, Fort Lauderdale-based indie pop band Yardij mourns the loss of a relationship to infidelity. In the video, lead singer Deja Elyze does far more than just mourn.
With disco guitars creating a shoulder-shaking rhythm, and Elyze’s soft, sultry vocals enticing you in, the “Caller ID” grooves with a shimmering pop luster that fits the soft lens look of the video, and it’s increasingly dark narrative. Following a woman who finds evidence her husband is cheating and begins plotting her revenge on both him and his lover, the clip adds create small details in that add an extra edge to the story, such as the lover being in a Bible reading group with the woman, highlighting her hypocrisy.
And while the revenge fantasy has dark overtones, the single maintains a neon shimmer that keeps it a fun pop jam.
