Waiting For Smith is the moniker for singer/songwriter Harry Lloyd. Formerly a ski instructor in the French Alps, he broke his back during an avalanche training. While being carried to the hospital in a helicopter, he had an epiphany that he should dedicate his life to music.
One of the tracks he wrote while recuperating was the effervescent “Long Life”. The warm, upbeat folk pop track brings to mind acts like Vance Joy, Neil Halstead and George Ezra in its sweet, upbeat melodies and breezy acoustic shuffle. And the quirky video for the track, filmed in Madrid, Spain, mixes plaintive, slice-of-life footage of ordinary citizens with fun, goofy performance clips. The cinematography is beautiful throughout, and it’s probably the best tourism ad for Madrid the city never commissioned!
