A rat rock band, skateboarding alligator and pig paparazzi could all be allegories for some bigger societal issues, or just surreal elements formed from the imagination behind the creators of slacker rock band Parent Teacher‘s latest video for “Murderahh”.

Parent Teacher fuse a number of various genres together into a mix they would dub “doomer pop”, with lyrics focusing on the state of the world through a lightly whimsical lens. Despite the heavy subject matter, the melodies remain warm and accessible across their latest album Ethereal Collapse, which contains “Murderahh”.

The hazy, lo-fi track crunches with grunge guitars and psych-folk vocals that fit together well with the captivating video. A mix of 2d animation and stop-motion, the video was directed by Andrew Strasser, who has said it is “exploring everything we’re dealing with today, such as “dog whistles, militancy, and media archetypes””.
