It’s no longer uncommon to find artists switching genres these days, especially rappers going the rock/pop-punk route. And often, they are really good at it. Futuristic certainly proves it on his latest single “GUCCI”, a crazy-catchy pop-punk sugar rush that satirizes cultural slang and trends in both the lyrics and the wild, funny video.
Taking a dig at the sneaker culture craze, the video finds Futuristic purchasing a $900 pair of sneakers, which proceed to get ruined during a wild backyard party. Girls wrestling in Kool-aid, dancing in mud, beer pong and all other sorts of activities happen while Futuristic performs (and while his shoes are quickly degraded). The best thing is the video never takes itself too seriously, nor tries to feel too cool (as most rap videos do).
