Review: Irish Moutarde – Charlie Mops

Quebec’s Irish Moutarde began their life as an Irish punk tribute band, but eventually transitioned into original songs, mixing bagpipes and banjos in with punk rock riffs and energy. They’re the type of band you’re going to want blasting when having a pint.

Or when celebrating St. Patrick’s Day. Of course, those two things go hand in hand, and there’s probably not a better song in their catalog to enjoy than their new ode to beer, and the fictional history of the drink, “Charlie Mops”.

The intentionally silly song, giving credit to a man named ‘Charlie Mops’, who made a new drink from ‘hops’, is perfectly crafted to be a singalong, so a lyric video like the one above will make it easy to join in with your friends while blasting the song in between your fourth and fifth bottle of Guinness.
