An anthem for being average.
That is what indie rock band Nervous Nikki and the Chill Pills have written with their new single “Mediocre at Best”. The self-deprecating song finds singer Nicole Bauza wailing about being “halfway to ten” over breezy guitars and backing vocals. The song is relatable to anyone who feels stuck not being special, and the band has shot a humorous clip to go with the song.
Focusing on Bauza entering a BMX competition, she’s instantly doubted and mocked by crowds…and as we come to see, for good reason. The video embodies the feeling of not impressing anyone, attempting to rise to the occasion only to be found wanting.
